Food waste is always an issue in any restaurant. Especially with catered events, guests over-order, and food remains untouched. Donate these items of untouched food directly. Within simple guidelines (an unused item that has never left the kitchen and has been held at a safe temp), a lot of waste can go a long way. To date, catering overage has fed over 3000 individual meals to those in need.
If making a direct donation is not an option, host a fundraiser, ask vendors to supply stock, and ask staff who want to get involved to donate time and tips. These events can raise a substantial amount of funding.
Buffalo Resilience has been built on connections. Use your network of friends and colleagues to spread the word. Many hands make light work and the more individual restaurants involved the less those participating will feel the impact. Discuss the program with other restaurants to bring them into the family.
You have built strong relationships with your vendors. Reach out to them and ask them to get involved, to support you in your good deeds. All donations can be made out to Buffalo Resilience a 501-c-3 and are tax deductible. They can support with product or simply make a financial donation.
Use your social media to spread the word. The more your network understands what we do and how to help the more we can do for our communities.
By displaying Buffalo Resilience Supporter stickers and info within your bar/restaurant, show your guests how much you support your neighbors and give back to Buffalo.
